Privacy Policy

My Ledger is a cheque tracking app made by Codekanima. It was built to work offline: the cheques you record are stored on your device and are not sent to us.
This policy explains what information the app handles, the few cases where information leaves your device, and the choices you have. It applies to My Ledger on Android and iOS.
1. Information the app handles
We do not collect personal information. There is no account or sign-in, and the app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
The app stores the following on your device so that it can work:
| Information | Stored | Sent off the device |
|---|---|---|
| Cheque records you enter: payer or payee names, amounts, cheque numbers, banks, dates, status, notes and the amount you paid | On your device | No. If you turn on Google Drive sync, they are saved to your own Google Drive (section 3). If you turn on calendar reminders, the name and amount of each upcoming reminder are added to the calendar you choose (section 4) |
| Cheque photos | On your device | Only if you use Smart scan or Google Drive sync (section 3) |
| App settings, including your Gemini API key if you add one | On your device | No |
Codekanima has no access to any of this information.
2. How the information is used
Information stored in the app is used only to provide its features: listing your cheques, showing what is due, calculating totals and profit, sending reminders, and creating backups and reports when you ask for them.
3. Third-party services
Google ML Kit (on-device)
When you scan a cheque, the text is read on your device using Google ML Kit. This works offline and the photo is not uploaded for this purpose.
Google Gemini API (Smart scan, optional)
Smart scan is turned off by default. If you turn it on in Settings and enter your own Gemini API key, each cheque photo you scan is sent to Google's Gemini API to read handwritten details. Your API key is stored only on your device and is sent only to Google with these requests.
Photos sent through Smart scan are processed by Google under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Please note: when the Gemini API is used free of charge, Google states that it may use submitted content to improve its products and that human reviewers may read it. If you do not want cheque photos to be handled this way, keep Smart scan turned off. Offline scanning remains available.
Google Drive sync (optional)
Sync is turned off by default. If you turn it on in Settings and sign in with your Google account, your cheque records, their status history and cheque photos are saved to a private app folder in your own Google Drive, so your other phones and tablets signed in to the same account stay up to date. The app asks only for access to its own app folder (the drive.appdata permission); it cannot see or change your other Drive files. Google stores this data under the Google Privacy Policy. We never receive it and run no server for sync. If you turn sync off, the data stays on your device and in your Drive; you can remove it from Drive under Settings → Manage apps in Google Drive.
4. Backups and exports
- Backup files. You can create a backup file and protect it with a password, in which case it is encrypted (AES-256). You choose where the file is saved or shared.
- Automatic backup (optional, Android). Off by default. If you choose a folder in Settings, for example in Google Drive, the app saves a backup of your cheque records there about once a day (keeping the last 7) and copies each cheque photo there once, into a "photos" folder. The file goes only to the folder you chose; the app that owns that folder (such as Google Drive) stores and syncs it under its own privacy policy. We never receive it. Turning this off stops new backups; files already saved stay until you delete them.
- Automatic copies. The app keeps a few recent safety copies on your device so that mistakes can be undone. These are not uploaded.
- Reports. CSV and PDF reports are created only when you request them and are shared only with the apps or people you choose.
- Calendar reminders (optional). Off by default. If you choose a calendar in Settings, each upcoming reminder is added to it as an event with the payer or payee name, the amount and the reminder text. Your calendar provider (for example Apple iCloud or Google) stores and syncs these events to your other devices and to anyone you have shared that calendar with, under its own privacy policy. We never receive them. The app only changes or removes the events it added, and removes upcoming ones if you turn this off.
- Device backups. If backup is enabled on your device, Android may include your cheque records (without photos) in your Google account backup, and iOS may include app data in your iCloud or computer backup. These backups are controlled by your device settings and handled by Google or Apple.
5. Device permissions
- Camera: to scan or photograph cheques. Photos are kept inside the app, not in your photo library.
- Notifications: to remind you when cheques are due. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Calendar (optional): only if you choose a calendar for reminders. Used to list your calendars so you can pick one, and to add, update and remove the reminder events the app created. Other events in your calendars are not read or changed.
- Face ID, fingerprint or device PIN: for the optional fingerprint unlock and for resetting a forgotten app PIN. The check is done by your device's operating system; the app only learns whether it succeeded and never receives biometric data.
- Internet: used only for Smart scan and, if you turn it on, Google Drive sync.
6. Keeping and deleting data
Your information stays on your device until you delete it. A deleted cheque is kept under Recently deleted for 30 days so it can be restored, and is then removed permanently. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your device. Backup files you have saved elsewhere are not affected and can be deleted by you at any time.
7. Security
Data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. You can add an app lock with a PIN of its own. The PIN is never stored; only a salted, one-way hash of it is kept on your device. You can also allow fingerprint or Face ID unlock, and hide the app's contents from the recent apps screen (on Android this also blocks screenshots). Because your data is stored on your device, keeping the device itself secured with a screen lock is important.
8. Children
My Ledger is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The updated version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
